OVERVIEW
The Shop offers creative design and construction of scientific equipment to aid basic medical researchers within the Faculty of Health Sciences at McMaster.
The Shop offers services related to:
- Design and manufacture a new piece of equipment
- Modify an existing piece of equipment
- Repair broken lab equipment
Equipment Design and Manufacture
Some examples include:
- Behavioural research equipment (mazes, open field, activity boxes, tail suspension)
- Stimulating and recording electrodes (in vitro and in vivo)
- Tissue and organ baths (optional field stimulation, warming water jacket)
- Transducers (tissue strain gauges)
- Tissue holders
- Animal restraint devices
- Biosafety containment equipment
- Various gizmos and gadgets
- Faraday cages
Repair services
Some examples include:
- Autoclaves
- Cables, connectors, power cords, (repair, custom fabrication)
- Centrifuges, CO 2 incubators, cyrostats
- Electrophoresis baths, embedders
- Freeze dryers (lyophilizers)
- Homogenizers, hot plates, magnetic stirrers
- Microscope cleaning/alignment
- Power packs, rockers, rotators, rotary evaporators
- Shakers, shaker/incubators, stereotaxic surgery equipment
- Surgical scissor and guillotine sharpening Syringe pumps
- Transilluminators
- Ultralow freezer troubleshooting
- Vacuum, aspirator pumps (service, rebuilding)
- Water baths, water filtration systems
