Canadian Centre for Electron Microscopy (CCEM)

CCEM houses best-in-class electron and ion microscopes; a team of 13 full-time professional expert staff operate the facility, perform microscopy services, and train users.

Centre for Microbial Chemical Biology (CMCB)

The CMCB is a diverse state-of- the-art facility that supports a broad range of research. It has the capabilities necessary for cell culture, assay development, high throughput screening, small molecule synthesis, natural product isolation, metabolomics, proteomics, small molecule identification for drug discovery, and basic research applications.

Clinical Research Support Unit (CRSU)

CRSU decreases barriers to conduct clinical research for early and mid-career researchers with or without formal research training as well as pilot or feasibility studies that would otherwise be challenging to complete. Services available include the full range of clinical research: question formulation, design, analysis and reporting.

Containment Level 3 Laboratory

McMaster’s CL3 Laboratory is equipped to support research on Risk Group 3 pathogens by using both in vitro and in vivo approaches.

Farncombe Family Axenic-Gnotobiotic Facility

This 3,000-square-foot laboratory provides a controlled, germ-free environment to study host-microbial interactions. The Facility has the capacity and infrastructure to enable the performance of long-term experimentation under controlled environmental conditions in diverse areas of biomedical sciences.

Flow Cytometry Facility

The McMaster Core Flow Facility provides access to operator-assisted sorters and to several state-of-the-art analytical flow cytometers, as well as comprehensive training and consultation services to enable users to use this technology to elevate the scope and quality of their research.

HITS is a facility that offers a comprehensive list of assays for the characterization and monitoring of the immune response of pre-clinical and clinical samples. HITS is a one-stop shop to the scientific community seeking to perform human immunological analysis.

ICES McMaster is a health services research facility that provides researchers and trainees with access to over 100 population-based health-related database that can be linked for comprehensive analysis of health care delivery and health outcomes in Ontario.

John Mayberry Histology Facility

A fully operational high quality histology core with the capacity to process, embed and section both formalin-fixed and cryopreserved tissues. Stains performed include chemical special stains, fully automated immunohistolchemistry (IHC), and insitu hybridization.

The McMaster Genomics Facility encompasses both the Farncombe Metagenomics Facility and Mobix Lab. The facilities provide valued next-generation sequencing and other services to academic and non-academic clients.

MRCMS is a staffed core facility that has been serving the research and development needs of academia and industry in Canada and the US since 1986. MRCMS houses five mass spectrometers and offers a 2-business day turnaround for routine samples.

MIBI is a powerful technique used to probe the microenvironment of pathological tissues at the single-cell level. With Ionpath’s MIBIscope, we can combine up to 40 markers to produce high-resolution images at the molecular level.

The Shop offers creative design and construction of scientific equipment to aid basic medical researchers, including design and manufacture a new piece of equipment, modifying existing equipment or repairing broken lab equipment.

The Robert E. Fitzhenry Vector Laboratory provides Adenovirus-based vector manufacturing services starting from cloning up to virus rescue and scale up. Ready-made recombinant Adenoviral vectors expressing various reporter genes and cytokines for pre-clinical research applications are also available for purchase.
