Clinical Research Support Unit (CRSU)
Overview
McMaster’s Faculty of Health Sciences’ Clinical Research Support Unit (CRSU) will support the next generation of clinical researchers lead collaborative studies that drive change in clinical practice and mobilizing research insights beyond academia.
Our mandate is to decrease barriers to conduct clinical research for early and mid-career researchers with or without formal research training as well as pilot or feasibility studies that would otherwise be challenging to complete. We focus on enhancing capacity that will increase quality of clinical research, maximize local and global outcomes, and attract new talent.
We Can Help You
Clinical research presents common barriers including lack of knowledge, lack of resources, and lack of experience. These barriers to clinical research can be attributed to a lack of infrastructure to facilitate the development of early-career or new clinical investigators as well as the management of clinical research. The CRSU provides clinical research support services alongside an educational platform focused on domain knowledge and leadership training that reduce barriers to clinical research.
What We Offer
- Advisory Services
1-hour advisory consultations with CRSU staff (e.g. research associate, research methodologist, statistician)
- Collaboration Services
Core staff of CRSU (research associate, research methodologist, statistician) may be deployed to provide services for existing clinical research projects on a part-time or temporary full-time basis for each investigator required for clinical studies.
- Clinical Research Management Services
CRSU will offer support of a full clinical research team for eligible and approved clinical research studies with the following team members (research associate, research methodologist, statistician)

How We Do It
Depending on investigator specific needs, we will provide training to address lack of knowledge, personnel/funding to address lack of resources, and networks/advisory services to address lack of experience. We will support clinical research from study design through to data analysis and knowledge mobilization.
All projects supported by CSRU must go through an application process. Each project is reviewed for eligibility and feasibility. We aim to review and respond to you within a 2-4 week timeframe
To apply for support, please complete the application form.
Who is eligible for support
CRSU resources and services are intended to support early or mid-career clinical researchers that do not already have access to other research institutions at McMaster University.
